ITA – Mads Nissen, nato in Danimarca nel 1979, il suo lavoro si focalizza sulle problematiche sociali come la sovrappopolazione umana, le violazioni dei diritti umani e la relazione -spesso distruttiva- tra uomo e natura. Dopo essersi laureato in fotogiornalismo, alla Danish School of Journalism nel 2007, si è trasferito due anni a Shangai, documentando le consequenze sociali e umane del boom economico cinese. Nel 2009 è tornato in Danimarca, dove tuttora lavora con POLITIKEN, uno dei quotidiani danesi più diffusi. Nel 2015, con l’immagine di Jon e Alex – una coppia gay russa- ha vinto il World Press Photo. Mads è rappresentato a livello internazionale da Panos Picture, in Italia daProspekt e in Germania da Laif.
ENG – Mads Nissen was born in Denmark in 1979. Graduated with a degree in photojournalism from the Danish School of Journalism, he moved to Shangai to document the human and social consequences of China’s historical economic rise. After two years in China, he moved back to Denmark in 2009 where he currently lives and works on contract with POLITIKEN.Mads Nissen is focused on contemporary social issues such as overpopulation, human rights violations and man’s often-destructive relationship with nature.
In 2015 his image of Jon and Alex – a gay couple from Russia – was selected Picture of The Year at World Press Photo. He has been a participant at the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass and his work has received awards from World Press Photo, Picture of the year among others, as well as the Danish Picture of the Year, where he has received 16 prizes, including Photographer of the Year and Photo of the Year. He has published two books: his long-term personal project “AMAZONAS” (2006-2013, Gyldendal) e “The Fallen – Danes killed in the Afghan-war” (2009-2010, People Press). He’s represented by Panos Pictures, by Prospekt Photographers in Italy and LAIF in Germany.
The Masterclass is held in collaboration with Prospekt Photographers, an Italian agency of documentary photography and visual storytelling that represents a group of International authors.
