Within our 3-years photography program, Bookstorming is a free-cost open call for photographers who want to share their projects with our 2nd-year students to make one or more dummies.

After been working with photographers Marina Caneve and Davide Monteleone in 2023, we are now looking for new projects through an open call: we are going to pick min 2 – max 4 projects that will be the core of the Bookmaking class in 2024, helped by Chiara Capodici from the editing to the final design.

The dummies will be both digital and printed, made during the year following the guideline of authors themselves.

Yes, if you have a project never published as a book, made of min 50 – max 200 images. The project needs to be completed or in the final stage.

If you’d like to apply you have to:

• send a Wetransfer to press@spaziolabo.it including:

1. min 20 max 30 images, low resolution and numbered as sequence (jpg, 72 dpi, long side 1000 pixel);
2. a low-res PDF including contact sheets of all the 50-200 available images (the PDF needs to be A4 size, max 10 pages, low resolution, including 50-200 images, on average 24 images per page);
3. contextual statement of the project (max 1 A4-page);
4. if needed, anything else (for instance: videos, texts, etc)

Yes, the open call is open to submission from 02.10.2023 until 30.11.2023. The submission is free-cost. For any info please email us at press@spaziolabo.it.

The paper copies of the dummies will be kept in the Spazio Labo’ archives and can be displayed during student exhibitions. The digital version of the dummies will be sent to the individual authors and can be shared by them using the appropriate caption: “Dummy created by [names, surnames], Spazio Labo’ Alumni, 2024”. The individual digital images sent cannot be used or reproduced in any form by Spazio Labo’ and/or its students outside the educational context. Spazio Labo’ will have the possibility to share on its means of communication the footage of the editing phases, of the maquettes and of the final paper documents for educational promotion purposes of the course, using the following wording: “© [project name][name, surname author], dummy created by [names, surnames], Spazio Labo’ Alumni, 2024”. For any other doubts about the use of images, we recommend sending an email to press@spaziolabo.it.

The images of the non-selected projects will be deleted from the Spazio Labo’ archives after the chosen projects have been communicated. The images of the selected projects will be definitively deleted from the Spazio Labo’ archives after the production of the final documents. Spazio Labo’ reserves the right not to select any project for the open call in question or to select more than one project for the workshop phase with the class. For the PDF of contact sheets it is recommended to insert approximately 24 images per page (A4). To reduce weight and resolution we recommend online services such as PDF Compressor, I Love PDF, etc.
